Introduction

Camosun College offers the Provincial Welders Training Program. This is a competency based self-paced program, which is designed to build a solid foundation in the basicsUSA Director: Maria T. Bohle DHM, DCN of all welding processes. The program conforms to industrial standards, practices and procedures and provides graduates with the skills required to meet today's job market. Training requires the learners to become competent in all welding processes. Individualized and personalized instruction provides ample opportunity for one on one discussion on specific applications.

Self paced trwelding aining is divided into three levels:

  1. Level C - Completion of C Level (entry level) training requires approximately seven months. Certification requires graduates of the training program to complete an additional five months on the job experience as a welder before receiving Provincial Ministry "C" Level certification
  2. Level B - Training is available to certified "C" level welders and requires approximately four months of training . Certification requires graduates of the training program to complete an additional eight months on the job experience as a welder before receiving Provincial Ministry "B" Level certification
  3. Level A - Training is available to certified "B" level welders and requires approximately two months of training . Certification requires graduates of the training program to complete an additional ten months on the job experience as a welder before receiving Provincial Ministry "A" Level certification

We also provide training in all four levels of Welding Apprenticeship as required by the Industry Training and Apprenticeship Commission

Welding Upgrading and Welder Testing to C.W.B and A.S.M.E. procedures is available to those are presently or recently employed as welders who wish to improve their skills.

Through our Continuing Education (CE) department we provide introductory courses in oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc welding. CE also provides Contract Training to business and industry.
